This blog is mainly geared toward those who are just started to get curious about board gaming and want to know more. Be warned, though, it's also a way of me logging some of the games I play for easier reference later.
I've been an avid board gamer since childhood. My husband and I play games at home but also with local friends and both public and private events.
Over the decades, I've posted on and off about board gaming (aka tabletop gaming). I'm using this blog to replace the multi-thread posts I sometimes make on Bluesky as well as a place to share some of my favourite collaborative comics and photos from the archives.
I'm especially grateful to Scott Alden and the community for making me feel so welcome when Jeff first started bringing me to events. Since then, both Jeff and I have made many friends within the community whose company we also enjoy outside of gaming events.
At some of these events, I'm finding I am spending less time playing games and more time just catching up with gamer pals!
Another reason I've started this blog is because I'm getting more of my non-gamer friends asking me about the hobby. Some of them assume that board games are all like Monopoly or Risk or Cards Of Humanity.
Many don't realize how many different types of board games there are out there as well as how many types of gamers.
Answering the question "What board game do you recommend?" is a challenge since so much depends on what kinds of games you like and don't like, how many people will be playing, and so on.
I'll be posting more about different types of board games, tips on getting into the hobby, and more. Thanks for reading this far!
